External Description

Villa Merlo is located in a strategic position: a few km from the center of Florence but at the same time in a quiet neighborhood of the Florentine countryside, away from city traffic.
The villa is surrounded by a large private park with olive trees, cypresses, fruit trees and ancient terracotta flower pots. Guests can admire the Italian Maze Garden with its splendid labyrinths and panoramic views of the Tuscan hills.
The property boasts a beautiful pool (5 x 10 m), surrounded by nature, and provided with sun beds and parasol. Next to the pool is a large gazebo equipped with a sofa, seats, dining table, outdoor kitchen, barbecue and wood-burning oven.
A private parking (for 5 cars) is also available.

Internal Description

Villa Merlo consists of the main building and the dependance. The whole property can accommodate up to 24 people with 12 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. All bedrooms have air conditioning, and are furnished with antique furniture and paintings. Pets are allowed on request.
The caretakers live on the property and sometimes the owner also lives in a private wing of the villa.

Main building: The top floor of the main building - recently renovated with luxury finishes, travertine bathrooms and parquet flooring throughout - can accommodate up to 14 people. Inside you will find: two lounges with beautiful fireplaces, a dining area, two kitchens and two terraces overlooking the garden. The sleeping area consists of 7 bedrooms with king size beds and 6 bathrooms (5 of which are ensuite, 5 with shower and 1 with antique ceramic bathtub).

Dependance: The dependance can accommodate up to 10 people. It has 5 bedrooms (3 of which with ensuite bathroom), a living room, a dining room and a kitchen.

Prices and conditions

Included in the price: Utilities (water, gas, electricity); Internet Wifi; final cleaning; service staff; midweek linen change for stays of at least 7 nights.

Excluded from the price: Use of the ancient dining room on request (to be agreed at check-in); lunches and dinners on request; heating according to consumption (if used); other extra services on request. Tourist tax (the amount usually varies, depending on location, from €0,50 to €4.00 per person per night for a maximum of seven nights, excluding minors, and will be paid upon arrival).

Security deposit: Customers are required to pay in advance (bank transfer) 2.000,00€ security deposit upon arrival (cash), which will be returned at the end of the stay upon any damages.

Places to visit

Villa Merlo is located along the “Chiantigiana”, an ancient road leading to the Chianti area, just 3 km from the center of Florence and from Piazzale Michelangelo, where you can admire a breathtaking view of the city.
The nearest bus stop is just 50 m from the gate of the villa (please note that the bus is small and only runs at certain times therefore timetables are necessary). However, larger buses can be found around 600 m from the property.
Some shops, typical restaurants and a grocery store are available at 600-800 m from the villa, while the nearest supermarket is 2 km away.
The proximity to the Chianti Classico area – known worldwide for the prestigious wine – allows you to visit its charming villages such as Greve, Panzano and Castellina.

Main distances: Nearest shops (600 m), Florence center (3 km), Chianti area (25 km), Arezzo and Siena (70 km), Pisa (90 km).
